My Apprentice
Ok I apologize for the late post. I just got back from a forgotten forest in Vermont that didn’t have internet. My wife left Friday morning to go to her brother’s wedding meaning I had to solo the Zoe instance from then until Sunday. This comic is not so much a comic as it is a look into my everyday life with my spirited and yet very promising apprentice.
This being the first time I was really left alone with “slimer” I decided that a daddy daughter date was in order and took her to a late showing of hellboy 2. I watched the last of what used to be my dignity flee as I walked into the theater, sleeping infant in arms with a large brown diaper bag slung over one of my shoulders and her pink blanket on the other. She crashes pretty early usually and did, but when the movie previews started she sat right up and watched the whole thing without making a sound. When it was done she turned around and looked at me and laughed. It was a good day.
I don’t really know how to approach these blogs yet. I don’t think of this comic as a strictly video game comic but at the same time I do play video games and like talking about them. So I guess I will try and remain as general as I can. Final Fantasy tactics for the playstation is my favorite game of all time. I loved it so much that when it finally was too scratched to play anymore Christian and I buried it in my front yard taking turns talking about the moments we shared. So my wife being the thoughtful person that she is picked up the new tactics for the nintendo ds as something to play on the flight and during our stay in Vermont. The game is ok as far as I am concerned, I put it on hard mode which at times I regret, but for the most part the game just regrets me and my mixed clan of humans and moogles. The world is beautiful and the combat system is fairly similar, but it is still only a shadow of what the first one was. There is a severe lack of story and when a girl says “I am going to go shopping in Shell Taylor for a little,” my fantasy and patience bubbles burst simultaneously. I am so confused about sequels that don’t measure up to their predecessors. What is so difficult about taking great content and expanding it? Has no one learned anything from The Empire Strikes Back? The sequel is always better then the original. Or as far as I am concerned it damn well should be.
