Epic Mount
This was the first comic Mark ever wrote in The Incompletes universe. It’s obviously geared toward WoWees, but it has a humanity to it I find endearing. You may wonder when you read the above (and you start to feel that itch under your skin) where in the world Mark’s side-comic Rez Sick has gone off to. Well, don’t fret. Willow will bare his cursed head in the near future.
You may have heard of this book called The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (can’t underline, sorry). It just won the pulitzer. It’s all I can do not to devour this book every time I look at it. This is restraint. I would like not to say anything about the story and just have my recommendation be enough for the few stray visitors we get here. But that’s probably not going to happen. So, Spoiler-phobes, close your eyes. Wao is a brief look at life in the Dominican Republic in the 80’s and 90’s as seen through the eyes of a Dungeons and Dragons geek. Imagine all the romance and horrors of the Carribean described with comparisons to Star Trek, Street Fighter, Watchmen, and just about anything else nerdy you can imagine. I’d like to meet the the Pulitzer’s deciding panel. I mean, they picked Kavalier and Clay too, right?
Mark is in Vermont with extended relatives and a toddler who’s attracted to sharp objects. If he survives, he’ll be back to give you more well-rounded comments on the comics. Until then you’re stuck with me and my Pulitzer recommendations. I’ll try to keep them to a minimum.
